A profession and word mountain guide is absolutely defined by the presence of a man- or client- who would like to get to places, which are not accessible for him. Without him the mountain guide is not needed.
That tells us that skills and abilities of a mountain guide are not specified by how good of a skier or climber is the mountain guide, or how many difficult mountains he has climbed. The abilities of the mountain guide, as well as he himself, are defined buy the client, whom he is guiding.
And that way the most important thing is what the client thinks about the specified mountain guide.
