1. Why should I book a mountain guide from Mountain Pro Guiding?<\/h3>\n
Our mountain guides are highly qualified – they have the highest possible education and certification for guiding in the mountains (IFMGA \/ UIAGM), as well as many years of experience resulting from expeditions to the highest mountains not only in Slovakia, but also abroad.<\/p>\n
The clients and their safety always come first. Each of our mountain guides is a professional and knows how to assess the current situation of a given ascent, as well as how to assess the conditions of danger, and not only on the mountains.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, they will be happy to share their experiences on the mountains with you during the hike, tell you interesting facts about the surroundings and history.<\/p>\n
2. How can I book a mountain guide for a specific date?<\/h3>\n
You can book a mountain guide for your desired date you by sending us an email with your request and then your billing information (name, phone, address) or company details. We will issue you an invoice, and only after payment will you have a valid reservationn.<\/p>\n
3. When we have booked a guide for a specific date, how and when do we contact him?<\/h3>\n
We will specify the exact time of the meeting with the mountain guide the day before the ascent. The meeting time depends on the weather that day, but it is usually between 5-6am. We contact clients by phone – mostly by sending an SMS text message with the contact of the assigned mountain guide and the meeting time.<\/p>\n
4. Summer – What gear and equipment is needed for a peak ascent with a guide in the summer?<\/h3>\n
Mandatory equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- High hiking boots with a hard sole<\/li>\n
- Backpack (30-35 l)<\/li>\n
- Waterproof clothing – jacket and pants – gore-tex or clothing made of other waterproof material<\/li>\n
- Warm clothes, warm socks<\/li>\n
- Spare clothes – packed in a waterproof case (plastic bag)<\/li>\n
- Sunglasses<\/li>\n
- Sun cream<\/li>\n
- Food and liquids (1-2 liters) for the day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

7. Do you also rent avalanche equipment if needed?<\/h3>\n
For safety reasons, everyone participating in winter activities<\/strong> in the mountains must have avalanche equipment.<\/p>\nIf necessary, we rent avalanche equipment<\/strong> (avalanche beacon + spare batteries, probe, shovel). There is an additional charge of \u20ac10 per person\/day for this gear.<\/p>\n8. Is mountain insurance included in the price?<\/h3>\n
The price of the ascent also includes mountain insurance for the intervention of the mountain rescue on the day of the ascent. The insurance is provided by Union insurance company. In order for you to have the insurance<\/strong>, you need to send us your name and surname, date of birth, email and phone number of the participants of the climb.<\/p>\n9. We are planning to climb Gerlachovsky Peak, where does the climb start?<\/h3>\n
If you are staying at the hotel Sliezsky dom hotel, the ascent starts in the morning at the hotel, where you will meet the mountain guide. If you are not staying at Sliezsky dom, the ascent starts in Tatransk\u00e1 Polianka, from where we will arrange your export to Sliezsky Dom. The price for transport is \u20ac10 per person in the high season, i.e. from June 1 to October 31. and \u20ac20 per person outside the high season (travel there and back).<\/p>\n
10. How fit do I need to be in order to climb Gerlach and other peaks?<\/h3>\n
To climb Gerlach, you must be in good physical condition and have experience with alpine hiking. As an interesting fact, we mention that 7-8-year-old children and also a 78-year-old tourist managed the ascent.<\/p>\n
11. How long does it take to climb Gerlach?<\/h3>\n
The time of ascent depends on the fitness of the participants and mountain conditions. The average ascent time is about 8 hours from Sliezsky dom and back, but it can be up to 10 hours depending on the conditions.<\/p>\n
12. What time does the ascent up Gerlachovsky Peak start?<\/h3>\n
The ascent starts in the morning between 5.00 and 6.00 am. Meeting time with the mountain guides depends on the weather.<\/p>\n
The exact meeting time is always agreed the day before the ascent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n13. What if they forecast calls for bad weather?<\/h3>\n
If they forecast bad weather for the planned day, we will change the date of the ascent. If another date does not suit you, we will return the money to you.<\/p>\n
14. How many people can 1 mountain guide take to climb Gerlachovsky Peak?<\/h3>\n
To climb Gerlachovsky Peak, the mountain guide can take max. 3 persons, and in winter or in wintry conditions max. 2 persons.<\/p>\n
It also applies that even during the summer, if it snows or ice forms, the mountain guide can take a max of 2 people. We inform clients about this fact in advance.<\/p>\n
The number of people for ascents to peaks and other activities with a mountain guide is according to the regulation of the Association of Mountain Guides of the Slovak Republic (NAHVSR) on the maximum number of clients per one professional IFMGA \/ UIAGM mountain guide.<\/p>\n
15. Can I take a child on a climb or other activity with a mountain guide?<\/h3>\n
The minimum age of children<\/strong> to complete the hike is 7 years old. Your child must be in good shape and have experience in alpine hiking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n16. Are there any cancellation fees when canceling a tour, activity or course?<\/h3>\n
